The French School is a South African learning centre located in Fourways, Johannesburg committed to the study of the French language, history, and culture.
At The French School, we strive to create an inclusive environment where individuals of all shapes, sizes and impediments are able to extend their language proficiency and broaden their minds.
We take pride in cultivating a family feel in all our dealings and treat our clients with respect and dignity.
Our services include private tuition, group lessons, translations, interpretations, facilitation, kids lessons and so much more.

How we started
The new decade ushered in new dreams and goals and after connecting, the owners hit it off like wildfire. With their aspirations in alignment, The French School eventually came to life. This business, formed by two individuals whose personalities and skills perfectly complement each other, can only be described as serendipitous.
The fuel feeding the fire is a desire to own a company that is not only limited to French lessons, but that has the ability to grow from education to include tourism, food, distribution and even later social development for South Africans. With Jaffer and Wapa the sky is the limit and their goals for The French School is to stay true to their vision and create the best French schooling experience in South Africa.
Our teachers
Our teachers have police clearance certifications, are highly qualified and have a proven track record as well as an excellent professional rapport with their clients. They are adaptable and are trained and supported to be able to suit the curriculum needs of our clients. We believe that our vision statement and our mission statement form the underpinning of the service we offer as well as the fundamental principles and values we stand by.
At The French School, we don’t only teach the language. What we want to share with our clients is the French history, French culture and the French way of life. Our aim is to impart what it means to be French – this includes current affairs, music, film as well as through social gatherings where our clients will be able to put theory into practice. For our kids’ programme, we want to share nursery rhymes, cartoons and stories that French children around the world grow up with.
Our clients
Based on our research and experiences, we felt that there was a gap in the market. Our services and products are aimed at satisfying specific market needs that our competitors are currently not meeting. Price range, quality and demographics were carefully considered in planning.
We cater to children from 3 – 12 years, teenagers, as well as those who are lifelong learners as well as our services, also extend to schools. Our levels are A1/A2/B1/B2/C1/C2.
In Johannesburg North alone, there are a number of private and government schools that currently do not offer French and who would like to. The French School offers French as an extramural activity as well as French as a subject that is integrated into the school’s timetable.
